John M. Leitch

John M. Leitch, a co-founder of Winquest Engineering (Winquest) Corporation in June 2010, left an indelible mark on the cybersecurity field. Under his visionary leadership as President and CEO, Winquest earned a reputation for outstanding service. In 2020, the company was recognized by CIOReview Magazine as one of the “Top 10 Most Promising Cybersecurity Companies” and received the HIREVets Platinum Medallion Award from the Department of Labor for its dedication to recruiting, employing, and retaining veterans.

In 2019, John was honored with the Cybersecurity Champion of the Year Award at the Maryland Cybersecurity Awards, presented by the Cybersecurity Association of Maryland, Inc., acknowledging his significant contributions to the industry.

John graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in history. Following a distinguished 14-year career in the Army, where he achieved the rank of Major, he transitioned to the corporate world of Signals Intelligence. Over the next 23 years, John excelled in leading and managing organizations in both government and private sectors.

John is survived by his beloved wife and two daughters. His legacy of excellence and dedication will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Stephanie J. Schaeffer

Stephanie J. Schaeffer, the visionary founder and leader of Winquest Cybersecurity Services Group, made a remarkable impact on the cybersecurity industry from January 1997 until January 2022. As one of the few women to lead a cybersecurity company in Maryland, Stephanie's exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and tireless work ethic earned Winquest Cyber a place among CIOReview magazine’s “Top 10 Most Promising Cybersecurity Companies.”

Stephanie’s journey began at Boise State University before she enlisted in the United States Army, where she distinguished herself as an honor graduate in Boot Camp. She continued her exceptional performance at Naval Technical Training Center, Corry Station, in Pensacola, Florida, where she excelled in the 35N Signals Intelligence role. Her commitment to excellence was further demonstrated as she graduated with honors from both basic and advanced SIGINT courses and was selected for Intermediate and Advanced Signals Analyst courses, graduating with distinction.

Following a distinguished career in the Army, Stephanie transitioned to cybersecurity, where she dedicated the next 25 years to the field. Her legacy continues to inspire and influence the industry.

Stephanie is survived by her devoted husband, five children, and granddaughter. Her contributions to cybersecurity and her enduring spirit will be profoundly missed.
